Pera D’Abruzzo’ is an old Italian variety that has been cultivated for many years in the mountain and coastal areas of Abruzzo in central-eastern Italy.‘Periforme Abruzzese’ or ‘Granny’s Throwing’.Indeterminate, regular leaf plants grow up to about 1.8m tall. Beautiful, large pear-shaped fruit/panniers, ribbed on the shoulders 200-300gm. Deep red, with a very good taste, sweet, fleshy, and thick flesh, and a small number of seeds. This is one of the most beloved varieties by Italians, used both – fresh, in salads, and for cooking rich Italian pasta sauces. Early season, about 70 days after transplant.
