The yellow China rose (Rosa hugonis) is a species of rose native to China. It is found at the edge of forests in hilly regions between 600 and 2300 meters of altitude.It is a 1 to 2 meter high bush with dark brown stems bearing flat, straight prickles and cilia on the long shoots that curve around the edges.The foliage, very light, consists of leaves with 5 to 13 small oval leaflets. In the fall it takes on a remarkable purplish brown color.
Flowering begins very early in April, it is very abundant, made up of a multitude of single, isolated, primrose yellow flowers, gracefully arranged all along the stems.
