The opposite, evergreen, oval, leathery, entire leaves are dark green in color and have a short petiole.
The white flowers (pink when still in bud: see photo), are grouped together in the form of umbels. Flowering is winter: it takes place from the beginning of December to mid-March
The fleshy, globular fruits, about 5 mm in diameter, are shiny, dark blue in color when ripe, in spring. The shrub is therefore also very decorative in spring
