Originally from Australia (from Queensland to New South Wales) this 2 to 3 meter shrub with an erect habit, then widens as it ages. its species name from the Latin cultriformis, alluding to the coulter-shaped leaf of a plow.
Leaves in the form of phyllodes, alternate, persistent, glaucous, triangular to obliquely obovate, 15 to 25 mm long and having only one vein.
Flowering in clusters of yellow-gold clusters from March to May.
The edible flowers are used to make donuts. A yellow dye is also extracted from it.
The fruit is a pod. Note that a green dye is extracted from the fruit.
