Rare plant to bring a touch of color until late in the late season, it flowers from September to November, sometimes even December.
The leaves are opposite, pinnate, slightly toothed, composed of 5 to 9 oblong to oval medium to dark dull green leaflets. They are persistent in their original climate and deciduous at the edge of the hardiness zone.
The flowers are campanulate, narrow in a wide open funnel 6 to 8 cm long in terminal clusters 10 to 15 cm long.
