Lilium 'Commander in Chief' Tall, flowering perennials up to 60-80 cm. in height. A single, unbranched stem from a bulb with narrow, pointed leaves. Flowers are large and often fragrant, and in a range of colors. Flowers have six petals and prominent stamens.
This Asiatic lily produces an abundance of large, 6-8" blooms in shimmering, scarlet-red. The effect of its intensely saturated blooms is simply stunning in a mixed border, the contrast it provides to other summer blooms is lovely. But don't let that box you in, it grows almost anywhere in zones 3 to 9 in full sun to partial shade, so long as you give it well-drained soil. It grows around 3-4', and makes an easy focal point, even in a smaller container display. You'll adore these blooms, but deer won't—they tend to avoid this lily
